Agricultural Leadership Program Pt 1

Agricultural Leadership Program Pt 1

From the Ag Information Network, my name is Bob Larson and I present to you today

Fruit grower report. Future leaders in the tree fruit industry have a head start with the Agricultural Leadership Program, coordinated by the Washington State Tree Fruit Association, Washington Department of Agriculture and WSU.

And, says WSTFA’s Jaqui Gordon, it’s industry-friendly…

GORDON … “Thus, the agricultural leadership program is a comprehensive and bilingual training that was designed for orchard supervisors and farm managers. It aims to develop the leadership skills of orchard and farm managers.

It’s a few months, Gordon said, well spent…

GORDON … “It’s a 3 month program. We start with 40 hours of classroom instruction followed by 7 weeks of a mentorship program and they graduate at the end of those 12 weeks with a presentation where they tell us how they applied all the knowledge acquired in the course in their own workspace.

Ofelio Borges from the Department of Agriculture says it’s a win-win situation for everyone…

Borges … “We strongly believe that every sector of the agricultural industry will benefit from this program. So when you have leaders who can rise and fall, who can inspire, who can convince people, who can motivate people, everyone will benefit, farm workers, employers, supervisors and managers.
