Davenport University Postpones 23rd Annual Business Excellence Gala Featuring Former US President to May


Davenport University announced that it has postponed the 23rd Annual Business Excellence Gala, its annual scholarship benefit event, to Thursday, May 26 at DeVos Place, Grand Rapids.

The gala will feature an exclusive conversation between Davenport President Dr. Richard J. Pappas and George W. Bush on 43rd The president of the United States. Guests will have the opportunity to learn about President Bush’s time in the White House, the challenges facing our nation in the 21st century, as well as his current work at the George W. Bush Presidential Center.


“I look forward to learning more about his story and providing our guests with a unique perspective on one of our nation’s leaders,” Pappas said.

During the event, Davenport will also recognize a top business leader from the West Michigan community.

“Davenport honors JC Huizenga, the Chairman of the Huizenga Group, with the Peter C. Cook Award for Excellence in Business for his incredible leadership and contributions to our economy and our community,” said Pappas. “Through his work with the Huizenga Group, National Heritage Academies and various councils, JC is a valued member of our community and we are proud to recognize his accomplishments.”

The Business Excellence Gala is the university’s largest annual fundraising event in support of scholarships. Seating and sponsorship opportunities are available.
