Steilacoom High School Junior Selected for Student Leadership Program at West Point – The Suburban Times

Rhemmy Chen, Steilacoom High School junior, has been selected to participate in the Frances Hesselbein fall 2021 student leadership program at the United States Military Academy later this month. Rhemmy is one of ten student leaders selected nationwide to participate in the weeklong leadership experience.
The Frances Hesselbein Student Leadership Program is a semester leadership opportunity for graduate students who are members of the Military Child Education Coalition (MCEC) Student 2 Student (S2S) program in their schools. Students selected in the fall go to West Point and those selected in the spring go to the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO. The program offers an intensive experience to selected students to enrich their leadership and team building skills.
Through their core values ââof collaboration, integrity, relevance and service, the MCEC supports all children related to the military by educating, advocating and collaborating to solve educational issues associated with the military lifestyle. . Established in 2004, S2S is a student program that brings together military and civilian students to welcome new students, create a positive environment, support academic excellence and facilitate transitions.
Steilacoom Historical School District No. 1 serves the communities of Steilacoom, DuPont, Anderson Island, Ketron Island and parts of Lakewood and unincorporated Pierce County.
