Yemeni president announces transfer of powers to Presidential Leadership Council

Aden: Yemeni President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi on Thursday decided to form a presidential leadership council, announcing the transfer of his full powers to the council.

The Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council comprises seven members: Sultan Al-Arada, Tariq Saleh, Abdul Rahman Abu Zara’a, Abdullah Al-Alimi, Othman Majali, Aidarous Al-Zubaidi and Faraj Al-Bahsani.

“With this declaration, a Presidential Leadership Council will be established to complete the implementation of the tasks of the transition period. I irreversibly delegate to the Presidential Leadership Council my full powers in accordance with the constitution and the Gulf Initiative and with its executive mechanism. he said.

According to a statement carried by the Yemeni News Agency, Hadi said that the Presidential Leadership Council is headed by Rashad Muhammad Al-Alimi, and has all his powers and all the powers of the Vice President.

He added that each member of the Presidential Leadership Council has the rank of Vice President of the Presidential Leadership Council. All members of the Presidential Leadership Council are committed to the principle of collective responsibility and their quest to achieve the highest degree of consensus among themselves, he said.

He also referred to the powers of the Presidential Leadership Council in the political, military and security management of the state, among others, throughout the transition period.

The Yemeni president decided at dawn on Thursday to relieve his deputy Ali Mohsen Al-Ahmar of his duties.
